Mobile-first signup tips
Most prospects find your school on their phone. Here is what to confirm about your public signup flow on mobile.

Most leads coming to your school find you on their phone. They tap your Google Ad, your Facebook ad, or a Google Maps listing. Their first experience with your school is your signup form on a small screen.
If it does not work on mobile, you lose them. Here is what to check.
Open your signup on a real phone
Not your desktop with the browser shrunk down. A real phone. Walk through the entire flow as if you were a prospect.
Check:
- Can you read every line of the page without zooming in?
- Are the buttons big enough to tap with your thumb?
- Are dropdowns easy to tap and pick from?
- Does the date picker work without typing a date?
- If your form has a payment step, can you fill in the card without the page jumping around?
Most signup flow problems are fixed by Rosterra's defaults, but it is worth confirming because you set your own customizations.
Keep the form short
Every extra field is a chance for the lead to bail. The minimum viable signup is:
- Parent's first name.
- Parent's email.
- Phone number.
- Child's first name.
- Child's age.
Everything else (waivers, full address, payment) can wait until they have committed. Rosterra's default trial signup is roughly this short.
Pre-fill what you can
If you are sending leads from an ad with a UTM tag or a referral code, the form auto-fills those fields. This saves the lead 2 seconds and feels more thoughtful.
Confirm the next step in plain language
After the form, do not show "Thanks, we will be in touch." That is dead air. Instead:
- If they booked a trial class: "Awesome! See you Thursday at 5pm. Check your email for what to wear and where to park."
- If they entered an inquiry: "Got it. A member of our team will text you within an hour to find a time that works."
Both of those drive way better show-up rates.
Test the SMS flow
The same day they sign up, they get an SMS reminder. Confirm:
- The SMS arrives within a few minutes.
- It comes from your school's SMS sender (configured at
/settings/messaging). - The text reads naturally on a phone.
Speed matters
A slow signup page kills conversions. The signup is hosted by Rosterra on a fast CDN, so it should be quick. If you suspect slowness:
- Test on a 3G connection (Chrome DevTools has a throttle option).
- Confirm your custom logo image is sized reasonably (under 200 KB).
Common issues
- iPhone date picker bug. Some custom date inputs do not show the spinner on iPhone. Rosterra uses a native date input by default; if you customized it, switch back.
- Autofill conflicts. A field labeled "Name" can accidentally autofill the parent's name into the child's name field. Rosterra labels child fields with "Child's first name" specifically to avoid this.
- Tiny "Submit" button. A tiny button on a tall form is a conversion killer. Make sure the submit button is full-width and at least 48 pixels tall.
Measure
Once a month, look at /reports/funnels to see your signup funnel. Drop-off between "started form" and "submitted form" should be under 30 percent. If it is higher, the form is too long or has a problem.
