Creating classes and weekly schedules

How to add a recurring weekly class, set capacity, assign an instructor, and confirm the schedule.

Updated June 4, 2026

Every regularly-scheduled class in Rosterra is a class with a recurring weekly slot. One-off events like seminars, parties, and tournaments are handled separately (see the events article).

Adding a class

  1. Go to /classes and click New class.
  2. Give it a name (for example "Tigers", "Beginner Tumbling", "Ballet Level 1").
  3. Pick the program it belongs to. Programs are where the price lives, so this links the class to its tuition tier.
  4. Choose which days of the week it runs and the start and end time. You can pick multiple days. Most classes run on the same time slot for every day they meet.
  5. Set the capacity. Once a class hits capacity, new enrollments go on the wait list automatically.
  6. Assign an instructor. Instructors get the class on their dashboard and can mark attendance.
  7. (Optional) Pick the discipline and the location.

Time zones

All times are in the school's time zone, set at /settings/branding. Confirm this is right before you build a full week, especially if you are running close to midnight.

Confirming the schedule

After saving a few classes, go to /schedule to see the full week laid out. If something looks off (overlap, wrong day, two instructors on the same class), edit from there. Drag and drop is not yet supported, but each tile links straight to its edit page.

One-off variations

Holidays, makeup days, and one-time guest classes do not require a new class. Use /schedule to add a single instance for a specific date. The recurring class stays untouched.

Capacity and waitlists

Hitting capacity does not block enrollment. Families who try to enroll into a full class land on the wait list. When a spot opens (someone drops, you raise capacity, or you add another class), the next person on the wait list is invited to confirm.
