Your tenant-branded mobile app
What the mobile app does for families, how families install it, and what branding controls you have.
Updated June 4, 2026
Every Rosterra school can offer a mobile app branded for the school. The app is what most parents use day-to-day. The portal is the long-form home base; the app is for quick on-the-go actions.
What the app does
- Schedule. Today's classes for each of their kids. RSVP, cancel, schedule a make-up.
- Check-in. Tap to check in if your school allows mobile check-in.
- Progress. Each child's current rank, what is next, recent promotions.
- Billing. Pay an outstanding balance, update card on file.
- Communications. Push notifications when you message them, plus inbox of past messages.
- Events. Register for and pay for events, parties, and tournaments.
- Certificates. View and share promotion certificates.
- Waivers. Sign new waivers when you push them.
- Pro shop. Buy uniforms and gear if you have a retail catalog.
How families install it
Schools on the standard subscription get a shared app called Rosterra. Families download it, sign in, and pick your school the first time.
Schools on the white-label tier get their own app in the App Store and Google Play with the school's name, icon, and color scheme. Families download from a deep link Rosterra provides for your school.
Both paths share the same code. The difference is what icon and name the family sees on their phone.
Branding controls
For the shared app, your school's brand color and logo show up after the family signs in. You set these at /settings/branding.
For the white-label app, additional branding is set during app submission: the app icon, splash screen, store listing copy, and store screenshots. The Rosterra team handles the App Store and Play Store submission for you after a kickoff call.
Push notifications
Send push notifications from /communications. Pick the audience (all families, specific class, specific program, lapsed families), write the message, and send. Families who opted in get the notification on their phone.
Push is way more effective than email for time-sensitive messages: weather closures, schedule changes, last-minute reminders.
What the app does NOT do
- It does not log staff in. Staff use the web app on a tablet or laptop.
- It does not run the kiosk. Kiosk is a separate web mode at
/kiosk. - It does not work without an account. Every user must be a registered guardian or student.
